I've been asked to design a logo for the Society of Philippine American artists, and after a few rounds, I think this is what it's come down to! 

Pulse- shades of black

Okay so Gen suggested I play around with this, and to try making it a little brighter. So I think I've completely strayed away from the "African" aesthetic now, it might be getting a little too psychedelic now... not sure.

Pulse poster

Here's a poster for MIT's African Student Association's annual cultural performance "Pulse." This one called "The Beat From the Motherland." There are two more to come... at some point... One is called "Shades of Black" and I might have to make up the third. Since they're still part of the "Pulse" program, I might continue to play with the Africa/heart concept and just give it a different aesthetic that plays with the theme of the evening's show, while still being African design inspired. 

 

Hype advertising

This would be the stationery for an advertising agency called Hype. Hype combines media and creative forces to reach and target a variety of audiences in effective and innovative ways. 

When thinking about two halves (creative and media) that completed one picture, I thought of Dr. Rorschach and his ink-blots. I liked how creative I could be with ink-blot shapes while still being analytical and evoking the cognitive nature of advertising. 

I eventually created a somewhat regal crest-like shape which initially portrays a sense of leadership and confidence. Hopefully not immediately but eventually the viewer will notice that the blot takes the form of two face profiles facing each other, alluding to the most basic and arguably best form of communication: interpersonal communication, or talking.   

The business card is actually one that is doubled up and folded in half. When you give it someone, it will just appear to be a white card, which you open to revea

l the inkblot inside.
